The 8th International Entomophagous Insects Conference (IEIC) will be held in Tours, France, from 1 to 4 July 2025.
This biennial conference aims to bring together scientists from around the world to share and disseminate information and new discoveries on the biology of parasitoids and predators of insects. Topics include behaviour, evolution, physiology, chemical ecology, genetics/genomics, systematics, population, community and landscape ecology, biological control and integrated pest management, biodiversity and conservation biology. The aim of this conference is therefore to stimulate discussion and generate new collaborations that will lead to innovative and effective research on entomophagous insects.
The conference is the result of the merger of the International Entomophagous Insects Workshop and the European Parasitoid Workshop. It was first held in Minneapolis (USA, 2009), followed by Antibes (France, 2011), Orford (Canada, 2013), Torre del Mar (Spain, 2015), Kyoto (Japan, 2017), Perugia (Italy, 2019) and finally Buenos Aires (Argentina, 2023).

The Insect Biology Research Institute (IRBI) invites you to Tours for the 8th edition of the IEIC. The IRBI is a joint research unit of the University of Tours and the CNRS (UMR 7261). The diversity of expertise has been perpetuated since the unit's creation (1961) by bringing together under one roof researchers and lecturers from different disciplines (e.g. ecology, physiology, genetics, (bio)chemistry, physics, bioinformatics and mathematics), making the IRBI a rare place with an asserted international identity on insect sciences. In order to understand the puzzle of life and to confront the complexity of biological systems, their functioning and their evolution, the IRBI thus implements a resolutely integrative approach at the interface between the organismal biology, ecology (in its mainly molecular, chemical, physical and behavioural dimensions), and evolutionary biology. The areas of transfer range from biological control for sustainable agriculture to the development of new technologies for the control of vector and invasive insects in urban and natural environments, as well as biomimicry or the production of insects for feed and food.

In addition to the scientific frenzy of the conference, coming to Tours will give you the opportunity to visit the old town with its 15th century houses and to taste the fine wines of the Loire Valley (Vouvray, Bourgueil, Chinon...) and discover other local specialities such as goat's cheese ("Saint Maure de Touraine") and rillettes.
Some of the most beautiful Renaissance chateaux are nearby. Chenonceau, the famous chateau built on the Cher river, and Chambord, the largest Renaissance chateau built by King François I, are easily accessible by public transport. Many other charming chateaux will entice you to stay for a longer cultural break!
For nature lovers, the Loire Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage site and boasts an exceptional wildlife. Hire a bike, canoe or simply walk along the river and you may come across little terns, deers or beavers...
Remember that Paris is only an hour away from Tours by TGV (high speed train), so you can easily come to IEIC2025 and enjoy a break in the capital, the most beautiful city in France (just after Tours! ;-)
Looking forward to seeing you in Tours!
